17-Year-Old Author Keira Chang Inspires Children to Explore Science and Medicine Through Her Educational Book Series

A young writer’s love for learning becomes a storytelling journey that helps children understand how the world works

Her award-winning children’s book series, Marinara & Alfredo, transforms complex topics like physics and biology into playful adventures that inspire curiosity and wonder.

Keira’s first book, Marinara & Alfredo: How Do Rainbows Work?, brings the mystery of light and color to life by explaining how rainbows form through sunlight and water. “I’ve always believed that science can be fun for kids if it’s told through stories,” said Keira Chang, author and student at The Harker School in San Jose. “My goal is to help children understand how the world works and to spark that same curiosity that made me love learning.”

She also creates animated read-aloud videos of her books, extending accessibility to children who learn best through visual and auditory storytelling. The Marinara & Alfredo series has gained growing attention among educators and parents for blending STEM education with positive values. Each story is set in “Pastaville,” a whimsical town that makes learning both entertaining and engaging, encouraging children to ask “why” and explore science.
