SAN JOSE, CA, UNITED STATES, October 10, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Seventeen-year-old author Keira Chang is inspiring a new generation of young readers to fall in love with science through her storytelling. Her award-winning children’s book series, Marinara & Alfredo, transforms complex topics like physics and biology into playful adventures that inspire curiosity and wonder.

Keira’s first book, Marinara & Alfredo: How Do Rainbows Work?, brings the mystery of light and color to life by explaining how rainbows form through sunlight and water. Her second book, Marinara & Alfredo: How Do Ouchies Heal?, introduces children to the body’s healing process with vibrant illustrations depicting the four stages of of tissue repair. Her newest installment, Marinara & Alfredo: How Do Airplanes Work?, explores aeronautics - the science of flight. All three books made Amazon’s bestseller list in their respective book categories.

“I’ve always believed that science can be fun for kids if it’s told through stories,” said Keira Chang, author and student at The Harker School in San Jose. “My goal is to help children understand how the world works and to spark that same curiosity that made me love learning.”

Beyond writing, Keira shares her passion through writing workshops for young authors, where she teaches students how to build immersive worlds and develop ideas into publishable stories. She also creates animated read-aloud videos of her books, extending accessibility to children who learn best through visual and auditory storytelling. Teachers use her videos as a fun way to introduce science concepts to students, and Stanford's Lucile Packard Children's Hospital broadcasts them on their hospital TV channels.

The Marinara & Alfredo series has gained growing attention among educators and parents for blending STEM education with positive values. Each story is set in “Pastaville,” a whimsical town that makes learning both entertaining and engaging, encouraging children to ask “why” and explore science. Keira writes using simple, friendly language - as if she’s explaining the concepts to a five-year-old - making even complex topics easy for young readers to understand and enjoy.

“Keira’s creativity and heart come through in everything she writes,” said her mother, Liz Chang. “I think it’s wonderful that she’s using her talents to help kids learn and see the world differently.”

Keira’s books are available on Amazon and have been featured at educational conferences and library workshops, including the Early Childhood STEM Conference at Caltech, where they were raffled as examples of effective science communication for young learners.
