European diplomats go to Palestinian town following viscous IDF attacks

(MENAFN) A group of European diplomats visited the Palestinian town of Kafr Malik in the occupied West Bank on Monday following a violent incident involving Israeli settlers that left several Palestinians dead and injured.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the attack, which occurred last Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of three Palestinians and injuries to seven others. Kafr Malik, located northeast of Ramallah, was reportedly stormed by settlers who set fire to Palestinian vehicles and clashed with local residents, as reported by various sources.

Reports noted that dozens of settlers were involved in the assault, with residents from Kafr Malik and nearby villages attempting to resist the violence.

Laila Ghannam, governor of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh region, said on her official social media account that the diplomatic delegation included approximately 20 representatives, among them ambassadors from the European Union, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The delegation surveyed the destruction in the town, including damaged homes and torched vehicles, and met with families affected by the attack.

Ghannam told the visiting officials that the violence was not an isolated act but rather part of “a systematic Israeli policy adopted by the extremist occupation government” under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

She accused the Israeli government of providing “full political cover to settler militias as part of a broader strategy to uproot Palestinians from their land.”

Ghannam urged European nations to move beyond issuing statements and to take “concrete political action beyond writing reports,” warning that continued silence from the international community has only emboldened both Israeli forces and settler groups, who she described as “two sides of the same coin,” to persist in their actions against Palestinians.
